Classes are taught within the Hatha Yoga tradition.
They are based on the regular and evolving practice of yoga postures and
breathing. There is an emphasis on breath and our relationship to ground and space, ‘taking
root to fly’. In these classes you can discover how to experience
a posture with an open curiosity, afresh each time. Yoga props and sometimes
partner exercises are used for support and to develop further understanding
of the body. This approach offers the possibility to adjust postures on
an individual basis.

The following descriptions are to help you choose the most suitable classes.
basics
For beginners.
In basics the most essential principles of Hatha yoga
practice, such as breathing, grounding and postural alignment, are
taught through basic yoga postures. The pace allows you to explore
each posture in depth, to develop excellent body awareness and release
deeply held tension. We recommend beginners complete at least three
months and up to one year of basics.
open
For all levels, including beginners.
Open classes provide a varied
and balanced yoga practice, developing strength and flexibility.
The emphasis is on practice and integration of the basics and classics themes. For beginners who want to come twice a week it is ideal to
combine this class with basics.
classics
For students with some experience.
Classics builds on the ground
of basics, introducing further postures and techniques that inform
and make the practice safe. Learning how to do forward bends, back
bends and inverted postures are typical themes. The range of classes
includes restorative and breathing practices, as well as meditation.
flow
For those seeking a dynamic practice. A knowledge of yoga postures
and technique is recommended.
In flow (Vinyasa) a wide variety of yoga postures are joined in an
ongoing series, such as Sun Salutations. Flow focuses on the continuity
of awareness, bringing breath and movement together, leaving you
energized yet relaxed.
meditation
For all levels, including beginners.
Traditionally, the goal of yoga is ‘to slow down and calm the movements of the mind’.…so we can realize who we really are. In each class we will practice yoga postures to create space, ease and alertness in the body as a preparation for sitting meditation. Using simple meditation techniques, mostly from Tibetan Buddhism, we will practice down to earth skills, such as being present and developing an attitude of friendliness toward oneself. This class provides the opportunity to gradually develop basic skills and deepen the experience.
